EDS-files
Functionality and properties of CANopen devices are generally defined in the form of a standardized "electronic datasheet" (Electronic Data Sheet, EDS) in ASCII-format. The EDS-file acts as a document, containing and describing all data and functions of a CANopen device, so far available. 

The EDS-file is part of the standard scope of delivery of a CANopen device. The file is used by configuration tools and controller systems to integrate a CANopen device into a CAN network.
