VarIO indicates a modular system, realizing a custom-designed assembly of peripheral I/O- and interface components. Therefor, the individual components are subdivided into three groups: VarIO bus coupler, VarIO I/O modules and VarIO housings.

Thanks to the flexibility of the system it is possible to reconfigure the components with additional I/Os, remove I/O modules or rearrange their order at any time. If the bus system is changed (peripheral connection) in application only the bus coupler has to be exchanged.

Hence VarIO system is qualified for fix assembled applications likewise test purpose for limited duration.

A minimum VarIO bond is made up of a VarIO bus coupler modul (VarIO-BC-CO-XX) and another VarIO-module. The maximum of I/O modules is limited to 12 by system hardware.
